| The
college is situated at Jyoti Nagar,
outside the Municipality area,
hardly 3 km, away from town bus
stand and easily approachable
from J. G. Path and D. R. College
road. |

| The
Golaghat Commerce College was
established on 9th October, 1972
and classes were started in the
premises of D. R. College in the
evening shift with all assistance
from Dr. M. K. Saikia, the then
Principal of D. R. College. |

| The
College was shifted to its own
temporary building at its permanent
site on 2nd November 1973. Since
then the college has been making
strides to its permanent buildings
and other equipments. |

| The
College is indebted specially to its founder
lecturers, members, donors and the public
of Golaghat District in general for their
generous contribution and help in establishing
the college. The founder Principal of the
college was Late P. R. Neog, M.A. (double)
LL.B., who retired on 31st December, 1995. |

| The
college has been making steady progress in
academic as well as extra academic spheres.
It has already earned reputation in all spheres
like games, sports and other cultural and
literary activities. The student of this college
normally top the list of successful candidates
in the Final Examination of the Dibrugarh
University. The pass percentage is always
higher than the percentage of AHSEC and DU. |

| In
the fields of games, sports, cultural and
literary activities, the college has been
occupying a place of pride in all the years
even since its inception. In social service,
the college interacts with the rural communities
through various programmes of its National
Service Scheme unit. The NCC (Army) cadets
of the college has been displaying their attainment
and getting appreciations. |

| The
college started Post-Graduate classes in Commerce
(M. Com with Accountancy and Management as
special group) with effect from 1991-92 academic
session with necessary permission from the
Dibrugarh University. |
|
| Although
the college is a Commerce College, the Arts
stream was started in 1991-92 academic session
on the demand of the public with necessary
permission from the Dibrugarh University. |
|
| The
Commerce College was converted into a Deficit
College in the year 1979. |
